Thanks to everybody who made the trek down to Sayulita last week. We had an incredible time, both on the day and during the week in general. Judging by the return trips already being discussed we weren’t the only ones!
Special thanks to everybody who pitched in and helped out. You know who you are.
Special special thanks to our sponsors. You know who you are. ¡Muchas Gracias!

Sayulita in Travel & Leisure

For better or worse there’s a fairly lengthy article on Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita in the October/’07 issue of Travel & Leisure (“La Nueva Riviera“).

We know there are a few people out there looking for someone to share a house or room with. If this is you, feel free to use the “comments” section of this post to leave information (or respond to someone else’s comment).
If you’re not comfortable leaving contact information online, e-mail either Caddie or I and we’ll put you in touch.

Sayulita it is!

Note: We’ll be posting specifics about the actual event, the area, lodging, etc, on the benandcaddie.com site as we finalize details.
Cad and I spent a couple days checking out Sayulita. It’s a great town; despite being only 40 minutes from Puerto Vallarta it completely lacks that little-America, all-inclusive side of a Vallarta. There is a high expat presence in Sayulita but it stills feels very Mexican (check out the town square, as seen from Sayulita Fish Taco).
There are a few hotels in town, ranging from the very high-end Villa Amor to more low-key options like Papa’s Palapas and the two beachside campgrounds. Visitors in town for a week, however, would do well to look into a house rental – of which there are a ton of options. Most houses rent for a week (Sat-Sat), are 2-3 (+) bedrooms, and are either on the beach or have a small pool. We’ll be going this route and working on renting one six-house compound. The place we have in mind is right on the beach (Cad and I’ll likely be staying in the house at left, the remainder of the complex stretches off away from the beach).
While in Sayulita we also ate at two potential caterer/dinner spots; Don Pedro’s, which is right on the beach, and Sayulita Fish Taco. For what it’s worth, The Lonely Planet called Sayulita Fish Tacos the best fish tacos in Mexico.

The plans have changed. We’re tentatively looking at April 21st, 2008 in Sayulita, Mexico. That’s Patriot’s Day for some of you, Monday for everybody else.
Caddie and I will be checking it out next week and should have a better idea then – post/pics to follow. Here’s a little taste for now…
